The pulse of music then brought them all together. Playing spirited live shows around LA, HI-Stereo has honed their sound and earned the reputation of a throwback rock n roll band. They've painted the town with a colorful palette, mixing vocal performance akin to Morrison, Plant, and Bowie (to respectfully name an epic few) with yoked guitars and groovy rhythms that hit hard and dial in. Harmony and discord coexist in their music, freely moving from tranquil to volatile. Last year, HI-Stereo began recording their debut EP, Rip The Lip Off It, and will be releasing it in early 2012. Seume (pronounced “sue me”) wrote and arranged its 11 tracks, recording them in his bare-bones bedroom studio. The release show received media recognition as one of the year’s highlights in Kansas City music, and the album quickly garnered praise from the press — earning him a Best Singer-Songwriter nomination in 2009 from The Pitch. Since making a splash on the local scene, Seume’s journeyed many miles in his ’82 VW van, playing venues in Austin, LA, Chicago and living rooms across the country. Currently, he’s looking for a little piece of land to live the good life – working with his hands, playing in the dirt and making music.
